George was born in Jarrow, Northumberland, (90 miles south of Edinburgh, on the border of Scotland and England) and educated in the UK. He received a CNA Diploma in Education and BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Sunderland University, and then went onto Northumbria University Newcastle where he received an MA with distinction in Fine Art. George has been a professional teaching artist for almost 20 years and has been living and working in Phoenix for almost 4 years. He previously worked throughout the UK as a freelance teaching artist.
George's artwork has been exhibited throughout the UK and in various countries in Europe as well as in Tokyo, Japan. His subject matter when painting with acrylics and ink on paper varies from desert orchid/flowers and landscapes to simple abstract shapes and structures. His favorite medium when sculpting is chocolate which is very similar to the tactile and malleable qualities of clay … but twice the smell and taste!
