Bonnie Dougherty
Head of School
Bonnie brings passion, strong leadership skills, and a variety of experiences, including those in special education, to the Lexis community. Bonnie has spent over thirty years in the field of education and has worked for the past fourteen years as a principal in the highly successful Montgomery County Public School System (MCPS) in Rockville, Maryland.
Darla brings a diversified background in education and customer service to Lexis Prep. Originally from Wisconsin, she attended the University of Wisconsin, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Drama and English.
Elizabeth brings enthusiasm, energy, and strong interpersonal skills to her position as Admissions Coordinator for Lexis Preparatory School. With background experience as a Lead Preschool Teacher and extensive work in her sons’ schools, Elizabeth understands the educational process from both the parent’s perspective and the educator’s.
George was born in Jarrow, Northumberland, (90 miles south of Edinburgh, on the border of Scotland and England) and educated in the UK. He received a CNA Diploma in Education and BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Sunderland University, and then went onto Northumbria University Newcastle where he received an MA with distinction in Fine Art. George has been a professional teaching artist for almost 20 years and has been living and working in Phoenix for almost 4 years. He previously worked throughout the UK as a freelance teaching artist.
Leah brings great enthusiasm to her role as Community Outreach Coordinator for Lexis Prep. Born in New York, Leah moved to Phoenix in 1970, and graduated from the University of Arizona in 1984 where she majored in Interior Architecture.
Marie brings many years of business experience to her position. With a Master’s degree in Business Administration, she spent 20 years working in Human Resources management and corporate training. She’s enjoying the students at Lexis Prep and the opportunity to apply her skills to new challenges.
When her young daughter, Jessica, was labeled with “a behavior problem” in school because she couldn’t learn or be successful in a traditional classroom, Terry Adams became educated in education. By the time Jessica’s autistic diagnosis was confirmed, Terry had already begun the career change to teaching; not only so her daughter could feel success but for all students who think and learn differently.
